I would say that I’m cheap. I prefer the word “thrifty” and whenever I come across an opportunity to save money, I get really excited. And that’s what happened in a recent article by All You magazine entitled, “Grab 25 Fabulous Freebies”. This article lists 25 places to find all sorts of free things from places to get free Wi-Fi Internet to cooking classes. Here’s a handfull of some of these great finds.
1. Wi-Fi Internet
Take advantage of free Wi-Fi for your laptop, notebook, smartphone or IPod Touch by connecting at locations in your area that offer free Wi-Fi. Places like Panera Bread and local libraries offer this service to their customers. Additionally, visiting http://wififreespot.com/ provides a listing of businesses in your area where you can connect for free.
2. Unlimited Texts from your PC
If you have a Gmail or AOL email account, you can send text messages from your account free of charge. This is a great tool if you don’t have a text messaging as part of your cell phone plan. These applications allow you to text any mobile number and receive texts through your account for free.
3. Faxing
I was extremely excited to learn about this site. Faxzero.com allows you to fax an online document for free to any fax machine. The free membership allows you send up to 2 faxes per day with a maximum of 3 pages. Unfortunately, this service does not allow you to receive faxes.
4. Cooking Classes
Stores such as Williams-Sonoma frequently offers classess taught by culinary professionals to demonstrate products. Classes are typcially offered on Sundays and last about an hour. Call to the store to sign-up.
5. Gym Access
Some gyms will offer a week long guest pass. It’s usually pretty simple to get a guest pass. So if you have several different gyms in your area, you may be able to get a month of free membership just by visitng a different gym each week.
6. Home Workouts
Exercise.tv offers free workouts that you can view from your PC. Some of these programs include professionals such as Jillian Michaels. In fact, some cable companies offer these same exercise programs through their OnDemand programming. This is also a great way to try out an exercise program before buying the DVD.
